This past Friday, we were hunting for a front-load washer.  My wife suggested a nearby store.  I reminded her of our experience there a few years ago when we needed a fridge.  The door trays were of thin clear plastic.  The type that when you grab, say a gallon of milk, the tray will probably snap in your hands.  At that, my wife said, “Forget about it!”

My wife is strong.  Picture Rosie the Riveter-We Can Do It!  She’s mixed concrete, carried sacks of cement, buckets of sand and gravel, gave birth to 13 kids and can tackle anything.  I’m sorry, did I say 13? I meant 3! Three strong-willed, independent kids that’ll tackle any mountain…well, one will first draw a schematic, color-code it, draw up a plan of attack and analyze it before proceeding.

But my wife’s no screamer like the women in the 1960s movies. She’ll say, “Man…bop you in the head, put you in a headlock, and make you cry uncle!   All while doing her nails and cooking! I know, you’re liking her already.  Me too!  Think of the song, (I’m looking for a) Hard Headed Woman by Cat Stevens.

In another life she was a furniture tester!  When shopping for appliances and furniture, she asks, “Will it pass the Vivian test?”  She broke so many things they stopped using her!  If she can kick you in the stomach and toss you through a door and shatter it, that door is no good!  You need a solid door even if it means cracking your head some.  But you’ll thank her someday.

Bottom line: when you buy something, buy quality.  If you build something, build it to withstand the test of time. Jesus tells us to build our house upon a rock (Matthew 7:24-27), as opposed to on sand so it’ll withstand life’s storms.  Jesus is the Rock (1 Corinthians 10:4)!  Build your life on Him. Nothing will tear you away from Him!                                                          Go Rosie! You can do it!

God Bless!
